While visiting Warsaw, Poland a few years ago, I went to a very interesting flea market. As usual I had my eye out for a wood carving to add to my collection. When I found the Polish peasant carrying wood I immediately purchased it and then celebrated with a plate of pierogi and a liter of Polish beer.

Cheers, Doug

  1. Congratulations on your first drawings in 30 years - wow! I've noticed, since I returned to art after many years myself, that many of the EDM folks have done the same. I think we realize that as kids (doing what we loved naturally) we were often closer to our soul than we are on the road that takes us away as adults. Perhaps, though, as a poet and photographer, this is not what happened to you. (Hope not). Good luck on your return to art - you are off to a great start!

    Your words are much appreciated.
Yes,Soul often tends to get neglected.

    Yet,

    To paraphrase Rumi,
    There are thousands of ways
to kneel and kiss the Soul

  3. Wow, I have the carving of the man collection firewood also. My great grandfather's cousin carved it. The carving has been passed down through my family. Is there any writing on the bottom? Thank You
